The China Australia Business & Insurance Council was established to strengthen commercial, professional and community relationships between Australia and China through collaboration, knowledge sharing and trusted business connections.
The Council recognises that successful international business is built on trust, understanding and long-term relationships. We are committed to encouraging responsible trade, investment and cooperation while supporting the exchange of knowledge, innovation and best practice across a broad range of industries.
Strategy, Focus, Growth
The Council supports business in all sectors including construction, property, manufacturing, infrastructure, professional services, technology, education, agriculture, logistics, tourism and international trade.
Through strategic partnerships, business forums, networking events, trade delegations, industry research and educational initiatives, we seek to create opportunities for Australian and Chinese organisations to connect, collaborate and grow.
The Council is also committed to promoting stronger engagement between local governments, sister cities, industry associations, universities and community organisations. By highlighting successful Australia–China partnerships and encouraging new opportunities for cooperation, we aim to contribute to stronger economic development and greater cultural understanding.
As part of this commitment, the Council is developing a growing collection of business intelligence resources, including industry directories, market information, sister city registers and practical guidance to assist organisations seeking to engage with opportunities in Australia and China.
Our objective is simple: to build enduring relationships that promote business confidence, encourage investment, facilitate knowledge exchange and create lasting value for our members and the broader Australia–China business community.

Andrew Ferguson
Convenor of Australia NSW China Business Insurance Council
Andrew Ferguson is Managing Director and co-founder of Ferguson Brown Insurance Brokers, a specialist Australian insurance brokerage providing risk management and insurance solutions across a broad range of industries.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Economics, Master of Economics and Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Studies. His career spans industrial relations, business, local government and insurance.
He served for approximately ten years as General Secretary of the CFMEU (NSW Branch), working closely with government and industry on major infrastructure projects, including the successful delivery of construction for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Andrew later became Managing Director of Coverforce Insurance Broking, helping build the business into one of Australia’s largest privately owned insurance brokerages before its acquisition by Steadfast Group.
He subsequently co-founded Ferguson Brown Insurance Brokers with Nathan Brown. The firm is recognised for combining technical insurance expertise with practical commercial advice, providing clients with strategic support that extends well beyond traditional insurance broking.
Andrew has served as a Councillor for the City of Canada Bay since 2017 and maintains extensive relationships across government, business and industry. He is committed to helping organisations manage risk, build strategic partnerships and achieve stronger commercial outcomes
